ESA takes over ISPS services in Heraklion Port

ESA has taken over the security services of one of the largest ports in our country, after a tender process. Scope of services include the protection of port facilities, ships, passengers and port visitors for one-year period and the deployment of 55 employees in full operational capability.

We ensure and enhance the undisturbed level of Heraklion port services, sharing our experience and know-how gained in similar and related security projects, such as 7 International Airports (Fraport-Greece), the Cruise Ports of Syros and Volos, the PCT / Cosco Containerships Reception/Service Port in Piraeus and other Access Control and Security Checkpoints for visitors and vehicles in other critical infrastructures around Greece.

ESA Project Team operates piers II, III and IV of ISPS Port facilities, where up to 5 cruise ships (C/D) can berth and accommodate. In parallel, our fully certified security screening team is capable to serve and manage the security control of more than 10,000 cruise passengers and their luggage at the Port Passenger Terminal.

ESA CEO Vassilis Antonopoulos pointed out: "In fully compliance to the requirements of the Port Authority of Heraklion, we undertake the port facilities security services, the property and assets protection of Heraklion Port, as well as the passengers and visitor’s care and security check. Our Security project team is comprised by experienced guards and screeners, all originated from Crete. We are committed to provide qualitative and efficient security services, supporting the Port Authorities' effort to upgrade Heraklion cruises services and further promote Crete destination."
